Christmas With the Kranks

Christmas is going to be a lot different for the Kranks this year. With their daughter jetting off to a Peace Corps assignment in Peru, it’s just not going to be the same without her. Nora (Jamie Lee Curtis) is trying to get into the spirit of the season, but is having a hard time. Luther (Tim Allen) comes up with a scheme that he hopes will not only perk up his wife’s mood, but also save some money. This year, they’re going to skip Christmas. No tree. No presents. No Christmas Eve party. Instead, they’re going to take a cruise to someplace sunny, and take a break from all the holiday hullaballoo.

While Luther’s plan sounds great, Nora has a difficult time getting on board with it. Their friends all think the Kranks are crazy, and the neighbors have launched a campaign to get everyone to participate in the neighborhood holiday decorating contest. Of course, their plan goes awry when their daughter calls and announces she’ll be coming home after all, and the rush to create the perfect Christmas in one day teaches the couple a lot about themselves, their neighbors, community spirit, and the true meaning of the season.

Based on the John Grisham book “Skipping Christmas”, this one was funny, and sure to brighten your mood if your feeling a little Scrooge-like. Rated PG. Also featuring Dan Aykroyd.

Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
